The club, who have entered a team in the junior National League for the first time this year, are only a couple of years old, but have been doing an excellent job of promoting the sport in their area.
Anthony Robinson from the club stated - "Hartlepool Heat was only started two short years ago and in that time we have laid the solid foundations to take Basketball forward in Hartlepool and the surrounding area.
The whole ethos of the club is to promote (the sport), develop (new coaches and officials as well as players) and encourage (participation across all ages, gender, ethnicity and ability) in a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. We have practiced all of this since forming the club in 2006 so to be recognised for our high standards in our daily management of the club is fantastic.
This award is a huge boost for the club for the town and also for basketball. Parents and Guardians can rest assured their children are part of a safe and welcoming environment where there is positive desire to develop junior members."
England Basketball's Clubmark Assessor, Craig Costello stated - "The submission from Hartlepool Heat made it clear that they do a lot of good work in providing a welcoming atmosphere for anyone wanting to participate in basketball. We look forward to working with them as they continue to grow their club."
